How Noise Travels

March 10th, 2012

Noise is created by sound waves, and is transmitted from a source (TV, music, conversation, etc.) to the surrounding air particles, which vibrate or collide. Sound waves travel through air in much the same way as water waves travel through water. Imagine dropping a pebble into a pool of water… Ripples appear, this is how sound travels.

Noise moves and transports energy from one place to another through a medium and the medium can be any series of interconnected and interactive particles – walls, ceilings, floors!

Soundproofing can significantly reduce the noise travelling through those mediums. We create barriers…. Those barriers in turn prevent the noise from getting through!

Soundproofing works by using materials that either reduce sound or absorb sound. While sound usually cannot be blocked 100%, a significant noise reduction is possible. At least 80% can be reduced by our proven soundproofing solutions.
